Detective charged with child sex offences

"A detective from the Met's specialist sexual abuse unit has been charged with a string of child sex offences."

"Detective Constable Chris Maitland, 40, based on the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court tomorrow."

"The policeman, who was originally arrested last November, has been charged with two counts of sexually touching of a girl under 13."

"He is also accused of five counts of taking an indecent image of a child and seven counts of making an indecent image of a child."

"The unit he worked for, also known as Sapphire, investigates rapes and serious sexual violence. It also has a child abuse investigation team which is tasked with safeguarding youngsters."

"DC Maitland is currently suspended from duty."

  1. serious allegations and punishments are faced, if one is charged with sexual offences. sex activities with children are horrific and are destroying family structure of many families.
