Dangerous networks

The BBC produced an `Inside Story` documentary `The Secret Life of a Paedophile` in 1994.

Peter Righton, once a member of the Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE), had become Director of Education at the National Institute for Social Work and had secured positions at the Home Office as an expert in major government reports. In some journals he was able to put across his view that adult and child sexual relationships were not necessarily harmful.

Data sharing

It is as well to remember cases like this.

Encouraging data sharing about children across health, social work, education, police, voluntary services and the other 120 databases in Scotland, is not a brilliant idea. It`s a paedophile`s dream.
 

The BBC VIP Paedophile Ring investigation

Panorama investigated allegations of historical child abuse and murder by some of the most prominent people in Britain: a paedophile ring at the heart of the Establishment. They asked why the allegations were described by police as `credible and true` with no hard evidence or corroboration?

As expected, the BBC did a good job to discredit abuse victims and Chris Fay.

Police, who were warned off investigations by their senior officers, were not questioned and the missing files were never mentioned.

The CPS file on Elm Guest House suspects was destroyed in 2007. The interesting thing about this is not that the file on Elm Guest House suspects was destroyed but that the file was kept well beyond the three year rule as one commenter to the Spotlight post makes clear.

After a bout of Googling I discovered that they should actually have been destroyed 3 years after the 1982 trial date, so that’s possibly the most interesting part to this- not necessarily that they were destroyed, but why they were destroyed so late. Since they were possibly kept because they were classified as being of "Long Term Interest", why then were they finally destroyed in 2007? Just a CPS house keeping/clear out exercise or something more?

The criteria determining a Long Term Interest case is interesting. It can include something like unusual charges/cases (disorderly house convictions perhaps could, at a stretch, apply there, I don’t know) but it also includes, for example, security/terrorism, secret/top secret and "famous, eminent or notorious people".

Goddard inquiry formally opens

The House of Commons Home Affairs Committee`s 12th report (2014 - 2015) recommended that the scope of the inquiry be "extended to include cases of abuse in Scotland and Northern Ireland, where there is reason to believe that material relevant to the case might be held by the UK Government. This would include cases such as the Kincora Boys’ Home."

Rampant paedophilia in Britain

It is a billion dollar industry and, although they have the technological means, those in positions of power do not have the will to curtail it.

Also bear in mind the estimate of 750,000 sexual predators out of a global population of nearly 7 billion.

According to a Mail on Sunday article which was reported on Father`s Day, and you have to ask why, it looks like most of the paedophile predators are men who live in Britain. This news/propaganda was then spread throughout the media.

Or we could say the figures come just weeks after MPs and  survivors of sex abuse complained that the Independent Inquiry into Child Sex Abuse was dragging its heels and no living politician within recent times has ever been prosecuted,  never mind charged with child sex abuse.

There are no credible sources for the information and statistics get muddled and confused with more socially acceptable behaviour.

As for making people wonder what is `natural behaviour` many people would suggest that that is the whole point of the media exercise. It kind of fudges what those at the top of the tree have been up to, while insinuating with trumped up figures, that many other men in the UK would like to be getting away with it too.

Leon Brittan refused to outlaw Paedophile Information Exchange

An infamous example of one which has is police prevention of a peaceful protest against a 1999 trip to New Zealand by the Chinese President. Goddard’s report, while agreeing with the Internal Affairs finding that the police action was unjustified, was not issued until eight years later.When deputy Solicitor General, Lowell Goddard refused to release evidence that former judge Michael Lance was guilty of perverting justice in a police prosecution of his son Simon’s business partner, claiming it was not in the public interest to allow the prosecution. The police inspector at the time sought release of the file, which Goddard and John McGrath refused. Judge Lance later became Goddard’s deputy judge at the IPCA – demonstrating a level of audacity which is rare, even by New Zealand standards. Lance retired in disgrace shortly afterward when it was reported he was keying cars parked in front of his Takapuna apartment. (Lance was prosecuted in a judge alone trial in 2010 and let off by Judge Kevin Phillips. British tourists who witnessed the offending and returned to give evidence were deemed untrustworthy by the trial Judge).Insiders concede the IPCA became a more opaque and political agency under Justice Goddard, with legal exemptions asserted to prevent disclosures of information under the Official Information Act and Privacy Act. Much of the agency’s work is cloaked by tight secrecy.Justice Goddard is believed to be the first Maori woman to have served as a High Court Judge. Government refuses to reveal four files related to child abuse

"The Government's refusal to reveal the titles of four files related to child abuse has been branded "disgusting" by the family of a boy missing since 1979. It is now over a month since the Cabinet Office confirmed it had found four more files relevant to the ongoing child abuse inquiries centred on VIPs in Westminster."

"Officials have promised the files will be handed over to the police and various inquiries but they are still refusing to allow the titles of the files to be made public, let alone the contents...While the content of the files may be sensitive, refusing to reveal the names means the public has no way of tracking them or knowing how they are being dealt with..."

"It follows a Sky News investigation which unearthed another classified file in January that the Cabinet Office had kept closed on grounds of national security. After MPs raised the issue in the House of Commons, government officials were forced to release it to the National Archives."

"The documents revealed former British diplomat, the late Sir Peter Hayman, was the subject of the secret file. The papers documented his "unnatural" sexual behaviour and his activities within the Paedophile Information Exchange group."

"Neither the Hayman file nor the four new files were found during an earlier Home Office-commissioned search for documents relevant to ongoing abuse inquiries."

Whistleblower Liz Davies has written an open letter to Margaret Hodge

MPs were told that only one senior manager who has victimised a whistleblower has ever faced disciplinary procedures, while many government departments are still failing to support employees who come forward in the public interest.

The report also accuses ministers of failing to put in place effective policies to protect whistleblowers despite their role in exposing a series of major scandals including avoidable deaths at Mid Staffs NHS hospital trust and policing of the Hillsborough football stadium tragedy.

Margaret Hodge, the committee chair, said she had been dismayed by the way ministers and senior managers have failed to protect the public interest.

Sir Michael Havers intervened to stop the investigation and exposure of Establishment paedophiles

He intervened three times between 1981 and 1983 to stop the investigation and exposure of Establishment paedophiles, and to prevent the publication of stories which showed that Establishment figures were members of the Paedophile Information Exchange."

"The former leader of a pro-paedophile campaign boasted of storing the group’s files in the Home Office while he worked there."

"Steven Smith, 60, said he was given security clearance for his Whitehall job by Scotland Yard despite being chairman of the Paedophile Information Exchange."

"He worked as an electrical contractor monitoring security alarms at the Home Office for four years in the late 1970s and early 1980s."

"Smith later went on the run while facing charges over child abuse images. He was jailed in 1991 and again in 2011."

"In an obscure book published in 1986, he told how he was given a room of his own at the Home Office and used it to conceal PIE’s files."

More pressure for an independent inquiry

"The Government is under mounting pressure to hold a comprehensive nationwide inquiry into historic child abuse following the latest disclosures over Jimmy Savile’s prolific sex offending."

Almost 120 MPs from all parties have joined forces to call on Theresa May, the Home Secretary, to set up an overarching investigation into a series of cases.

It comes as Jeremy Hunt, the Health Secretary, warned that the culture that helped Savile to abuse hundreds of children and adults without being caught still existed. The campaign for a nationwide inquiry has been orchestrated by seven MPs, including Zac Goldsmith, the Conservative backbencher, and Tim Loughton, the former children’s minister, but has snowballed with support from more than a sixth of all MPs.
