John Taylor Gatto - The Purpose Of Schooling

1 comment:

  1. John Taylor Gatto`s account of schooling in America is exquisite and chilling at the same time.

Ploughing through the documents, and after years of research, he has been able to trace the decline in American education to the introduction of the Prussian method.

The Prussian method of education was about moulding children for the purposes of business and governments, never for the the individuals themselves. It was lobbied for and pushed through by foundations and think tanks - those supported by big corporations. [Think Carnegie and Rockefeller etc] Most of it was subversive and done in secret.

There are lessons to be learned here.

I would say that Curriculum for Excellence is the Prussian method par excellence - updated for the 21st century - which does not bode well for our children and grandchildren.
