Cradle to career tracking in Fife

From Fife Council:

"In order to support your child during the course of his/her school career and in transition beyond it, Fife Council will need to hold and possibly share information. This will be held on computer systems and may be used for the purposes of health monitoring, progress monitoring, supporting learning, further education and training, career guidance, parent council elections and advice."

"This information may therefore be shared with the following: Skills Development Scotland (Careers), Fife colleges, national training providers, relevant voluntary organisations, Job Centre Plus and Fife Online Referral Tracking."

 Fife Online Referral Tracking:
"The FORT CRMS [Client Record Management System] is used as the information infrastructure for partnership working - FORT CRMS allows partners to share client information and to track outcomes across multiple agencies."

As well as this and as part of Curriculum for Excellence pupils are encouraged to begin building their own profiles. It is hoped that in the future these profiles will become part of their Curriculum Vitae.

For those who want to manage everything, including us, the possibilities for designing the future workforce are there. It would be the Soviet system, only much worse, because of the data that can be accumulated these days.

But supposing a child or young person does not want to be tracked, monitored and advised - holistically or otherwise - can they opt out ?

I know. It`s a stupid question. There never is that option.
