Condemned to die by NHS

A mother begged for an operation in order to be allowed to go on living for her daughter and her husband but was heartlessly told that there was nothing the health minister could do.

The Express produced a follow up article later in December which reported that after a week-long battle with politicians and health chiefs, Pauline Toms will now be sent to a specialist centre to receive vital surgery.
The 45-year-old had been left devastated after public health minister Michael Matheson admitted the NHS had made "very significant mistakes" while bizarrely suggesting he had no power to intervene...
Last week, we reported how Mrs Toms, who lives in the Falkirk area, revealed that NHS doctors had refused to carry out life-saving surgery, despite her being given an urgent referral by a top Scots surgeon...
Despite our front-page expose last week, Mrs Toms continued to fear she may not survive to see eight-year-old daughter Jasmine open her gifts on Christmas Day as the NHS refused to budge from their position...
But they were left stunned when Falkirk West MSP told them he had no influence over the situation and was unable to help...
Since the case was publicised last week, a Facebook campaign page has now attracted more than 4,500 people

From the Facebook page there is this more recent announcement:
Not much has changed in Pauline's condition. She is STILL awaiting a bed in Salford Royal, as her health continues to fade away at home. The GP hasn't been in since last Monday (so much for the daily monitoring of Pauline's clinical condition ordered by Dr Peter Murdoch, Interim Medical Director of Forth Valley). Not that it makes much of a difference, a GP pressing your abdomen 4 times OVER YOUR ...CLOTHES, hardly constitutes as an assessment...
