NO2NP steps up its campaign

"A petition against “shambolic” Scottish Government state guardian proposals is being launched in Dundee... Under the legislation, more than a million children in Scotland will be assigned a named guardian who will have the power to “advise” and “inform” the child or discuss or raise matters about the child with the relevant authorities."

"The demonstration, which is also taking place in Glasgow, is the latest stage in the work of No to Named Persons (NO2NP), the organisation at the forefront of efforts to overturn Part 4 of the Act, which was passed by MSPs last year."

"NO2NP is stepping up its campaign as its members prepare to go to the Court of Session for a two-day appeal hearing next Wednesday and Thursday. A spokesman for the group said: “We are now more convinced than ever that this legislation is wrong for children, wrong for families and wrong for Scotland."

"The 109 pages of supposed guidance is a shambolic mess, which does nothing to clarify anything and serves only to baffle, bewilder and belittle parents. Lord Pentland commented during the hearing that a named person would need to have a master’s degree in law to know what will be required, and this guidance confirms that. "
