Child predator escapes jail sentence in Dundee

"A CHILD sex attacker whose horrific abuse caused one of his victims to try to kill herself has walked free from court after a sheriff opted not to jail him."

"Gibson Dunbar - nicknamed Creepy Gibby - was facing up to five years in jail after he was convicted of abusing Jodie Turnbull, who earlier waived her right to anonymity, and another girl in the mid-90s."

"Miss Turnbull, 28, said the `disgusting` abuse at the hands of the so-called family friend had led to her trying to take her own life as a teenager."

"The mum-of-four faced her abuser in court during a jury trial and said she had hoped Dunbar was handed the maximum sentence possible."

"She also urged anyone else targeted by him to come forward."

"Fiscal depute Vicki Bell told a jury at the trial that Dunbar was a `repulsive person who abused the trust of children.`"

Bell said: "Crime has no sell-by date in Scotland, a person can be prosecuted at any time if there is sufficient evidence."

Apology for PJ policeman

Posted in Portugal Record 7.12 2015

"After a written campaign that involved countless emails, letters and negotiations, a man who himself has been the target of legal action by the parents of Madeleine McCann succeeded in getting an apology from the Daily Express newspaper."

"Written at the bottom of page 21 in today’s edition is a box, headed ‘Amplification and Clarification, Gonçalo Amaral - Correction’. Amaral had NOT lied in court, the paper conceded."

"It was not a huge victory, Tony Bennett writes on the Jill Havern Forum, but it has publicly corrected an error that saw the former PJ policeman `publicly accused` of having lied about a death cover-up claim. The full text of the Express correction was as follows: `On the 29th April 2015 we published a headline on the front page which said `Maddy detective did lie about death cover-up claim`. We would like to make it clear that there was no determination by the Portuguese court that Mr Amaral lied. In fact the court ruled that Mr Amaral had breached the McCann’s right to reputation and ordered him to pay damages to them`. "

"Those damages are currently being appealed by Mr Amaral, who almost certainly had no knowledge of Tony Bennett’s efforts to clear the tabloid’s slur."

"Was it worth it? Mr Bennett questions in today’s write-up: `He did not lie. I am personally content that I have not wasted my time and effort.`"

#WALES Additional Learning Needs BILL - responses needed! #consultation #Urgency - If you are a young person,...
Posted by Learning Disability Carers Community on Wednesday, December 9, 2015

For children with additional learning needs (ALN) and young people up to the age of 25.

They will have an individual development plan which will be checked every 12 months.

"It is not enough just to have a plan. Every school or college will have a person whose job is to make sure that the plan helps the child or young person get better at things."

"This person will be called an Additional Learning Needs Coordinator. "

"All services will work together for a child or young person with ALN. They will share information with each other. They will tell each other what they are doing."

There`s a bit of the Named Person about this proposal, but I suppose the privacy issue will depend on the assessments and 12 monthly checks.

Chief executive admits failure to provide teaching support

"THE city’s chief executive has apologised to the parents of a pupil with autism after he missed five months of classes because of a failure to provide sufficient teaching support."

"Andrew Kerr has said sorry `in person` to the child and his parents who have asked not to be named and acknowledged the `real hurt` caused."

"The parents lodged complaints over failures to make adjustments for their child’s disability during his final months at James Gillespie’s Primary in 2013. The child was prevented from attending classes because the right support was not being provided."

"A probe ordered by deputy chief executive Alastair Maclean found arrangements for the pupil were not implemented properly within the school."

"Officers admitted management at school level was `defective`, leading to `neglect` and `inattention` towards the pupil’s learning needs. They said this was partly the result of not `learning all appropriate lessons` from a previous review."

"Education chiefs have been forced to scotch rumours that the family’s complaints caused a serious breakdown in relationships which led to a large number of staff absences."

"And they have admitted a complaint lodged by the pupil’s parents at the time was not dealt with appropriately and in line with council procedure."

"The development is the latest controversy to hit the city’s education department after the Cameron House and Castlebrae High scandals, and will pile further pressure on director Gillian Tee. Council sources have indicated Ms Tee is under further investigation over the James Gillespie’s situation following a complaint from the family."

Extremism guide is to be revised

Social engineering through philanthropy

Judith Rodin, president of the Rockefeller Foundation, one of the world`s leading philanthropic organisations, tells her audience about the foundation`s plan for disruptive innovation.

Disruptive innovation might be a new term but it actually has a long history. An illuminating article appears in Historical Studies in Education that examines the effect on child rearing practices of the mental hygiene movement which was funded by the Rockefeller organisation (1920 - 1969).

The authority of parents was disrupted by advocating a more permissive parenting style. For instance, in place of regular feeding routines for babies that would fit in with a mother`s schedule, feeding on demand was promoted as the best way to raise a secure infant. From the earliest the child was allowed to dominate the parent. In a similar manner, children`s happiness was to take priority over teaching in the classroom.

Disrupting the traditional bonds of respect between children and their elders, the peer group would play a more significant role in the lives of children. I am reminded of The Crisis in Education by Hanah Arendt:

As for the child in the group, he is of course rather worse off than before. For the authority of a group, even a child group, is always considerably stronger and more tyrannical than the severest authority of an individual person can ever be. If one looks at it from the standpoint of the individual child, his chances to rebel or to do anything on his own hook are practically nil; he no longer finds himself in a very unequal contest with a person who has, to be sure, absolute superiority over him but in contest with whom he can nevertheless count on the solidarity of other children, that is, of his own kind; rather he is in the position, hopeless by definition, of a minority of one confronted by the absolute majority of all the others.

Having placed a wedge between children and their parents, Rockefeller funding was removed from the mental hygiene movement and pushed towards communication research that would affect the displaced child. It asked the question: how do you manage communication research to change social attitudes ?

The pop industry, fashion, computer games, super-heroes and all the rest show there is method in the madness.

Of course, my interest in the Rockefeller article was in the parallels it points to in regard to the Named Person scheme.

The intention of the Named Person policy is neither here nor there; there will be consequences. What is going to happen to a generation of children who are encouraged by agents of the state to put their own parents under the microscope and find them wanting, whilst singing the praises of GIRFEC ? Where will their loyalties lie then ?

The Hand that Rocked the Cradle: A Critical Analysis of Rockefeller Philanthropic Funding, 1920-1960  by Brian J. Low is well worth a read and can be found below.

Disturbing misrepresentation of reality

"Writing alongside the video, which was posted to Facebook, Courtney said: 'The girls knew nothing about Nathan until this."

"'We met them at the door and told them that we had been out Christmas shopping and got them a gift to share... and it was under the tree!'"

"The minute-long clip, which has been viewed nearly 400,000 times since appearing on Facebook, shows the three girls walking into the front room in anticipation of their surprise."

Of course, babies do not grow under Christmas trees.

Social services in Wales: the cover up continues

Linda Lewis`s 12 year old daughter had her appendix removed and not only was this a case of misdiagnosis, and a botched operation, but it put the girl in danger of her life.

The girl was still in terrible pain when the mother sought a second opinion in a Florida hospital where her medical problem was diagnosed as Zollinger`s syndrome, an excruciatingly painful condition of the gut.

Before any thought about treatment could commence, two social workers from Neath Port Talbot in Wales, assisted by armed US police, removed the child from her hospital bed and conducted her back to the UK on a false passport where she was transported to a mental hospital and told that her pain was `imaginary`.

She was later treated for Zollinger`s syndrome.

In eighteen years the mother has never been able to regain contact with her daughter and has unearthed and followed a trail of false accusations against herself by Neath Port Talbot social services.

"One of the fears about the Linda Lewis Case blowing is that the law will have to change in Parliament and the House of Lords regarding what social workers can do, and how they do it." So says Kevin Edwards who has been supporting Linda Lewis to find justice.

A brief mention is made in the programme about the Named Person pilot in Scotland which would install state agents to oversee the care of all children.

The implication is that the Linda Lewis case, and others like it, must not be allowed to blow otherwise the Named Person plan will be seen for the state abuse that it is.

Lord Janner is unfit to stand trial

"Lord Janner is unfit to stand trial over allegations of child sexual abuse spanning four decades, a High Court judge has ruled."

"Mr Justice Openshaw told the Old Bailey the 87-year-old peer had `advanced and disabling dementia`."

"Both prosecution and defence barristers had agreed at a previous hearing that Greville Janner was not well enough to take part in a criminal trial."

"Lord Janner is accused of 22 counts of sex offences against boys.
The peer, who was suspended from the Labour Party in April, and his family have always denied any wrongdoing on his part."
"He is accused of 15 counts of indecent assault and seven counts of a separate sexual offence against a total of nine alleged victims.
The Old Bailey heard the allegations spanned the years 1963 to 1998. Twenty-one of the charges relate to children who were aged 16 or under at the time."
