How expert forums will keep the CfE revolution rolling

"Education Scotland unveils plans for constant re-evaluation. Scotland  COULD become a global pioneer by making its curriculum the first to be continually updated, it has been claimed."

"New groups of experts [Who?] – drawn from schools and beyond [Where?] – have been charged with ensuring that Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) does not grow stale or fall behind with developments in rapidly changing areas such as technology and politics."

"The 13 Curriculum, Learning, Teaching, Assessment and Support forums will be led by senior Education Scotland officers and each could include up to 18 contributors. They will try to solve a perennial problem in curricular reform – that the glacial pace of change has meant "new" curricula are outdated before the time of implementation. " [So put all systems on computers and get monitoring]

"It’s exciting stuff," said Graham Norris, Education Scotland’s assistant director for school years. "If we can pull this off, we’ll probably be the first system in the world to set up parameters that are relevant well into the future. [Probably not. See below] * And to be able to manage change within that is a very exciting prospect."

"Education secretary Michael Russell gave his backing, insisting that the country needed to get away from "big bang approaches". [The country is not responsible for `big bang approaches.`People can hardly keep up , and that includes teachers.] The forums would help to ensure that the system responded better when concerns about reform were raised, he added."  [That will be a first.]

*Here is an extract from a previous post which discusses GELP - a programme to develop a constantly evolving global system of learning:

When GELP discuss appropriate technology and systems they are talking about computers, Big Data and the standardisation of these systems across the globe. In order to justify the tracking and monitoring of every global student and their associated adults, it is essential that they have a concept to push like `personalised learning`; otherwise this project would be seen for what it is. There is a fortune to be made when all systems are in place by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, who are supporters of GELP - and fortunes to be made by other big corporations. To achieve real and lasting progress, education systems must also innovate and learn.

As well as personalisation:
We can add another concept to justify this enterprise and that is `constant re-evaluation of the system itself.` (A constantly changing, evolving system for learning, like GELP)  Obviously global data mining is a huge project and how else can all systems be standardised?  Scotland has just fallen in line, while pretending to be a world beater.
