Guidance teacher placed on sex offenders` register

Moray Council are going to be Getting to grips with GIRFEC or so they have said in their press release (9 June 2015).

Over the next few weeks children will be visiting their new nursery, school, classroom before starting the new term in August.

As well as getting to know their new teachers and class mates they will also find out about what ‘Getting it right for Every Child’ will mean for them.

Getting it right for Every Child’ or GIRFEC,is a national policy to help all children and young people grow, develop and reach their full potential....

The majority of children and young people in Moray will receive all the help and support they need from their families and communities, but for those who need some extra support, the first person to turn to will be their Named Person.

Well maybe not such a great idea:

A FORMER Forres Academy teacher has been placed on the sex offenders’ register for three years.

Danya Dickson Boath was sentenced last Thursday.

Dayna Dickson Boath, who worked at the school before becoming acting principal teacher of guidance at Elgin High School, sent messages containing graphic details on the sexual abuse of children.

Moray Council suspended her when police began their investigations.

The 30-year-old appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court for sentencing last Thursday.

Dickson Boath, who lives at Roseisle, was found guilty at trial of sending messages through the public communications network that were grossly offensive or indecent, obscene or menacing in character between August 8 and September 10 last year, conversing with an unnamed person on the sexual abuse of children...

A spokesman for the local authority said: "The council acted swiftly in suspending Mrs Dickson Boath as soon as matters came to light, and she has since resigned and is therefore no longer employed by the council.

"Beyond that we would not wish to comment."

It is embarrassing really.

If this had happened  when the Children and Young People Act had been fully implemented,  Danya Dickson Boath would have been a Named Person with all the children`s databases and data sharing facilities at her disposal that come with that role.

It reminds me of Robert Green`s suggestion on UK Column Live. "Now... if [Nicola Sturgeon] can guarantee that none of those Named Persons is a paedophile or satanist ritual abuser, if she can guarantee that, then I think the people of Scotland will have more confidence. "

But no such guarantee is possible.

  2. Your comment is a little bit cryptic.

"What sex offender did Nicola Sturgeon use for the Named Person Act?" you ask.

That assumes that the First Minister set up the Act, which she did not. It comes from the Blairite Every Child Matters policy.

And it has nothing to do with any particular sex offender.

If you could be more specific about what you mean, that would be helpful
