Head of charity is being pressured to resign

"The founder of one of Britain`s best known charities is under pressure from the government to step down as its leader because of concerns about financial mismanagement."

"Camila Batmanghelidjh, who has become synonymous with Kids Company, the charity she set up in 1996, is facing calls to step aside as chief executive by government ministers."

"The Iranian-born philanthropist has lost the faith of the Cabinet Office, over her ability to manage the charity`s finances, according to BBC2`s Newsnight. " [Why is the Cabinet Office involved? Should it not have been the Charity Commission? ]

"(She) claims that she is being pressured to resign after approaching the government with a list of establishment figures involved in an historical child sex abuse case."

"Camila Batmanghelidjh...has said that she `will not be bullied` into resignation despite alleged threats to withdraw vital state funding."

"Ms Batmanghelidjh`s leadership came under scrutiny this week following reports that a £3 million government grant needed for the charity`s restructuring was dependent on her removal as chief executive."
