Fife Council`s catalogue of failures

"SOCIAL workers missed and cancelled meetings that could have saved tragic Mikaeel Kular - weeks before he was battered to death by his mother . "

"A catalogue of failures by Fife Council have been uncovered after bosses were forced to come clear about their haphazard approach towards the three-year-old toddler and killer mum Rosdeep Adekoya. "

"Socials workers ended supervision of the family despite Adekoya, 35, having not been seen with Mikaeel for a month before the tragedy - after two home visits were cancelled, the Sun reports."

"The handling of the case by the authority was branded "shambolic" and "shameful" as the tot's father Zahid Saeed, 31, called for senior heads to roll."

"He said: "I have said since this nightmare began there has been a cover-up. This is the proof. Someone must take responsibility and lose their job..."

"A summary of findings in a significant case review in April found that Mikaeel's death couldn't have been prevented."

"But Tory local government spokesman Cameron Buchanan blasted the council and said if they had been more "professional" in following up missed appointments then the tragic toddler may still be alive."

"He added:" The mother was already known to social services, so it beggars belief why she was not receiving regular visits. The local authority should be ashamed."
