Staff volunteer suspended after prom

Burnhouse Manor Hotel in Ayrshire where the school prom took place

"A SENIOR teacher has been suspended after being accused of inappropriate behaviour at a prom."

"Richard Hutchison, head of science at Johnstone High School in Renfrewshire, has been asked to stay away from work while his conduct at the party for school leavers is investigated."

"It’s been claimed the popular teacher crashed out in a hotel room with pupils after the event and shouted and swore at girls in a neighbouring room in the early hours last Saturday."

"There are also allegations that he was seen in a state of undress by at least one teenager after stripping to his underwear."

"Hutchison was one of several Johnstone High staff members who volunteered to help at the prom, which was held at Burnhouse Manor Hotel in Beith, about 10 miles from the school."

"Many of the pupils decided to book rooms at the country house hotel in Ayrshire rather than travel back to Johnstone on the night."

"There are no allegations of criminal behaviour and no complaint has been made to police – but education officials are probing claims that the teacher was drunk."

It looks like it was a recipe for a load of high jinx and I take it there will be no country house prom next year.
