No compensation for swine flu jab damage

Daniel and his mum Audrey
"A PROMISING young footballer claims his life has been ruined because the swine flu vaccine left him with a condition which makes him fall asleep up to 20 times a day."

"Daniel Colquhoun developed narcolepsy after receiving the Pandemrix vaccine five years ago at the age of 12."

"The former youth player, who signed a contract with St Mirren at age of 11, says his life is in tatters since being diagnosed."

"Despite admitting that Pandemrix is to blame, the Government are refusing to compensate Daniel under their vaccine damage payment scheme."

"The UK government stopped issuing the vaccine – which is made by medicine giants GlaxoSmithKline – to anyone under 20 from 2011, after the Health Protection Agency linked it to the neurological disorder. At least 1000 vaccine-linked cases have been identified across the world."

"Experts believe an ingredient added to make the vaccine more potent may be to blame as a similar vaccine in the US with no added chemicals did not produce any cases of narcolepsy."

"Daniel, 17, from Barrhead , Renfrewshire, said: "This is a nightmare. I should have been playing for my team and planning my career. But I kept falling asleep so often that it was impossible."

"Eighteen months ago Audrey saw a TV programme revealing the swine flu vaccine was being blamed for causing narcolepsy in some youngsters. Daniel will be on powerful medication for the rest of his life."

"A letter from the DWP’s Vaccine Damages Payment Unit stated: "The Secretary of State has accepted, on the balance of probability, that Daniel’s disablement has been caused by vaccination."

"But he has not accepted that the level of disablement caused by vaccination amounts to severe, which must be at least 60 per cent."
