I take it, it`s this article you were referring to:

"It’s alarming that for the first time in a decade, more than one million families are struggling in fuel poverty, and at the same time the poorest fifth of households have seen the amount they spend on energy leap up. With cold homes affecting children’s health and even their attainment at school, they risk being caught in a cycle of poverty as they grow up."

http://www.independent.co.uk/money/family-wellbeing-and-health-hit-by-heating-costs-9976679.html#

Yes, if governments were really interested in addressing the health and wellbeing of children, fuel poverty is the sort of issue they should be tackling.

Instead, the Scottish Government intends to break intergenerational cycles of poverty by targetting parents with early interventions such as teaching them to form better attachments to their children - and generating the equivalent of 100 percent of Scotland`s electricity demand from renewables by 2020 - which isn`t going to be cheap.

http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Resource/0038/00387936.pdf
Alice Moorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05381422778632377553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-807288854433283036.post-49905492651295993512015-02-11T12:54:32.210-08:002015-02-11T12:54:32.210-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Alice Moorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05381422778632377553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-807288854433283036.post-76146744381202148912015-02-11T10:38:16.909-08:002015-02-11T10:38:16.909-08:00So there have been further developments since the ...So there have been further developments since the Referendum in the Republic of Ireland and one of them is the Child and Family Agency, established in January 2014 and the other is `Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures`. This is important stuff because it shows there`s an agenda that crosses nation states. Forget political parties, they`re bowing down to it.

From `Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures:`

"Our vision is for Ireland to be one of the best small countries in the world in which
to grow up and raise a family, and where the rights of all children and young people
are respected, protected and fulfilled; where their voices are heard and where they are supported to realise their maximum potential now and in the future."

http://www.dcya.gov.ie/documents/cypp_framework/BetterOutcomesBetterFutureReport.pdf

It might be `Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures` but we`ve heard it all before. It`s called `Getting it Right for Every Child`. (GIRFEC). There`s little difference between the two policies. Although Scotland has the named person it`s possible to have the whole early interventionist data grab approach, without formally having a named person.

Fiona McLeod MSP acting Children`s Minister has been speaking on vimeo recently telling children that Scotland is the best place to grow up.

I`m too polite to say what I think about that.
Alice Moorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05381422778632377553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-807288854433283036.post-32258057482110494072015-02-11T03:52:05.863-08:002015-02-11T03:52:05.863-08:00I didn't know about this vote :( - I would sa...I didn't know about this vote :( - I would say thanks but it hasn't exactly brightened my day iyswim?

Was reminded of this from a wile back a while back:

http://www.home-education.biz/forum/eire/16514-ireland.html

And then there was this which I meant to look into further but didn't get back to:

http://www.home-education.biz/forum/media/17027-family-well-being-and-health-hit-by-heating-costs.html

SheilaSheilahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04979034123783374628noreply@blogger.com
